Boizel Brut Reserve Champagne£33.50
This Cuvee is obtained by a precise blend of the three Champagne grape varieties. Brilliant straw gold in colour. Great finesse with tiny bubbles in swirling columns. Expressive, fine and fresh nose of white flowers, followed by an elegant fruity ambience with notes of white peach, apricot, hints of citrus fruits and brioche. The texture is fresh and round with lovely persistence.
De Rochebouët Extra Brut Chardonnay – Pinot Noir NV£16.95
Deliciously fruity and finely balanced with superb brioche / shortbready notes on the nose due to its spending 12 months on the lees in bottle, pale straw in colour with consistent tiny bubbles. A blend of 50 / 50 Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Uco Valley fruit; representing another string to Argentina’s increasingly sophisticated bow, this is a very convincing and delightfully commercial traditional method wine.
Lois Sparkling Malbec Rosé NV£15.85
How refreshing – quite literally – to see a different side to Malbec from time to time. Made in the Charmat method from 100% estate grown Malbec grapes, the delicate pink colour comes from free run juice with minimal skin contact. The wine rests sur lie for 6 months before bottling giving the nose a charming richness reminiscent of wild strawberries and cherries with some nice yeasty notes. Lovely colour, persistent tiny bubbles and relatively low alcohol (12.5%) make this a bottle of delicious fizzy fun.
